Brake Parts

Stock brakes are effective at stopping your vehicle, once!  If repeated stopping, or stopping from high speeds is your thing, you need to upgrade your brakes. Stock brakes are 11" front with single piston Iron caliper.  The rear uses 11" drums.

This exclusive kit features a true 13" x 1.25" 2 piece rotor and aluminum hat designed for racing.  Kits are available with aluminum or iron hubs, billet U.S. Brake staggered bore 4 piston caliper or Wilwood SL4 froged calipers.  Drilling and slotting are additional.  Prices start at $1500  Matching rear 12" kits with parking brakes start at $699   Call for details and fitment!

Front 12" rotor with 2 piston Wilwood caliper

Picture
This upgraded kit comes with 2 piston forged billet aluminum calipers, larger 12" diameter rotors, conversion spindles, bearings, and caliper slider pins.  This kit uses stock brake hoses and pads (not included), but we recommend upgrading those.  This set up is 15 pounds lighter than stock, with approx 10% more braking surface area.  This equals more brake torque and heat capacity, resulting in faster stops for a longer period of time. Calipers are RED powdercoat.

12" Front Brake Kit                   $650

track / autocross pads               $75

braided steel hoses  (2 front)      $70

Rear braided hose (w/ tee)        $35

Calipers only                               $175 ea

Do it your-self C5 Style Big Brake Kit

Build your own Big Brake Kit will include:

*Laser Cut C5 Brake Caliper brackets   $60

*Custom Machined hubs to adapt C5 rotors  $130  (Can be used with ALL 2nd gen and B body spindles, does not include bearings.)

*Braided steel conversion Brake Lines $70  (these are D.O.T. approved)  front only- rear add $35

*Bearings and dust seals  $65 (must specify which outer bearing YOUR spindle uses, either .750" or .850")

Conversion Kit $300  (includes above parts to convert your 2nd gen F-body or B-body to C5 Corvette Brakes.  Does not include Calipers and abutement brackets, rotors, or pads, which YOU can purchase from ANYWHERE, we provide the custom conversion parts only.  Requires spindle modification, which can be performend by you, or we can modify your spindles for $75 pair, or purchase a set already modified for $175 pair.

**Kit will not effect track width, conversion hubs come with metric 12mm lug studs installed, which may require longer studs to fit some wheels. Hubs come with set 34 bearing race installed, if using with 70-79 style spindles with .75" outer bearing, race and bearing must be changed to set 2 style.

Dual Master Cylinder With Balance Bar

Picture
If you are serious about track performance, this is what you need.  By eliminating your power booster, you can add feel and control to your braking.  This set up uses separate master cylinders for front and rear, so the pressure can be matched to Each circuit individually and correctly.  The integral balance bar is used to adjust the mechanical force or "bias" to the master cylinders.  No proportioning valve to waste precious brake pressure.  This allows inputed force to be moved from one master directly to the other.  This mounts directly to firewall and uses stock manual brake push rod (not included).  Reduces weight by over 25 pounds over stock power unit.  Call before ordering to determine what master cylinder sizes will work with your application

Dual master cylinder with balance bar  $359

Wilwood Master Cylinder

Picture
Wilwoods master cylinder is a bolt on upgrade over stock, weighs 1/4 the weight!  Looks much nicer, and comes in 7/8", 1", and 1.25" bores to work with manual and power brake set ups, call for your application.  Comes in natural silver or all black.

Master Cylinder  $250

C5 brake set up VS. Stock

Picture
As you can see the difference is amazing.  Rotor is 13" x 1.25", while the stock is 11" x 1".  Even though the rotor is MUCH larger, the weight of the C5 set up as installed is approx 1 pound lighter.

The Test Results Are In-   We tested them for YOU

The Tests are in!!!!!!

For many years I used the 12" kit with Wilwood stock style calipers, race type pads, and power assist booster.  Due to poor "feel" on the track I went to larger rotors and dual piston calipers and converted to manual brakes.  The feel was much better but I lost a lot of brake torque at the wheels and the car was very difficult to stop.  I have since added the dual master cylinder set up.  I was able to use a smaller bore master cylinder front and rear than I could with a traditional "tandum" unit.  As a result I was able to increase brake torque by approx 24% at the wheels.  I use this calculator as a tool to calculate changes in brake force to see how components affect performance.

You'd be suprised how little many of those so called "big brake" kits increase your brake force. Here is how the braking performance of our car has been changed by these kits

Stock power brakes cheapo pads                                                           60-0mph    150 feet

12" upgrade, Power, Wilwood single calipers, Hawk HP Plus pads                  60-0mph     134 feet    (tires were limiting factor, easily locked)

13" with dual calipers, manual dual masters, EBC Yellow pads,                       60-0mph      126 feet     (brake control very good)

For a street driven car, I always recomend Power Boosted brakes.  For a car that sees more track than street I would recomend a manual brake set up, power brakes tend to give the brakes a "numb" feel. this can cause you to over brake, resulting in poor cornering and overheated brakes!

Brake performance is very important on the street as well as the track, my kits are just suggestions and offer you an idea of what you may be able to obtain.  There are many factors which may affect the performace achieved by any of these systems.  If you have any questions please call or Email.
